    With his father's career in the same field, Vern grew up loving the greens. In 1988, Vern accepted a grounds position at the Thunderbird Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona. When the opportunity arose for Vern to assist in the course construction of the Emerald Canyon Golf Course, Vern made the move. With a successful course construction on his resume, Vern moved to Antelope Hills Golf Course, where he undertook the maintenance of a thirty-six hole facility. After twelve years at this high-demand facility, Vern sought out an 18-hole facility. In 2006, Vern accepted a position at Pinetop Country Club, where he manages over twenty maintenance staff members.

    The Pinetop Golf Course is surrounded by bountiful Ponderosa Pines. You'll find Vern's blue grass and rye grass on the fairways and beautifully-maintained bent grass on the greens.
